How we deliver

Our belief is that the relationship between a woman and her midwife is at the heart of a good, safe childbirth experience.

In today’s overstretched maternity services, the reality is that 60% of women in London don’t get to see the same midwife twice (RCM 2012) and around 40% of women are discharged from hospital before they feel ready (RCM 2014).

Having a dedicated midwife throughout your pregnancy and birth has been proven to lead to better outcomes for mothers and their babies and it is this principle which runs through everything we do.

You will have your own dedicated midwife who will care for you throughout your pregnancy, birth and postnatal period. During this time, you will develop a close relationship with her, getting to know and trust her so you feel fully supported in any decisions you make. She will deliver one-to-one care during your labour and birth.

All Midwives are fully insured, nationally registered and regulated. We work to national Guidelines and our practice is woman centered and evidence based. We keep up to date at all times with the best midwifery practice and up to date research in order that we can support you in making informed choices that are right for you and your family. We work closely with each other and our NHS colleagues to ensure that you have access to any additional care should you need it.

Your midwife will be local to you and all appointments will be arranged at a time and place convenient to you. In addition to regular appointments, she can offer advice over the phone at any time of the day or night.

Your midwife is available to you 24/7. You can depend on her for support at all stages of your journey into motherhood. Each of the Independent Midwives in The Neighbourhood Midwives Collective ensures that she has good reliable back up so that there is always additional support should it be needed.

"Having my own midwife helped me feel safe and secure during the scary business that is giving birth. It was great to have someone take care of all the medical information so I could concentrate on giving birth."
