Welcome to the Neighbourhood Midwives home page. We are a private, independent midwifery service and we work in close partnership with our NHS colleagues to offer you fully insured care through a range of different options - our passion is to provide safe, holistic and personalised care for you and your baby from a midwife that you know and trust.
Having a baby is a very special and exciting event but it can also be a daunting prospect... in today's overstretched maternity services, the reality is that 60% of women in London don’t get to see the same midwife twice (RCM 2012) and around 40% of women are discharged from hospital before they feel ready (RCM 2014). One of the factors most likely to help make your journey into motherhood a positive one, is for you to feel well supported and cared for by the same midwife throughout your pregnancy.You can be confident knowing that she will be with you when you go into labour whatever the circumstances and this can help to reduce the fear of the unknown and create a calm environment for your baby to be born into. After the birth and for those first crucially important six weeks, your midwife will continue to give you all the consistent advice, support and guidance you need as you settle into life with your new family.
All of us at Neighbourhood Midwives know that this continuity of care from your own, dedicated midwife is fundamental to achieving the best possible experience - that is why we have created our service. Building a relationship with a midwife you can get to know and trust is at the heart of what we offer and, from the moment you book with us, your midwives will be available for you to contact anytime night or day. All our midwives work to our comprehensive guidelines and follow evidence–based best practice which has been shown to improve the likelihood of a healthy, positive outcome for both you and your baby.
